## About Petrolmate

Petrolmate is an independent fuel price aggregator covering every Australian state and territory (NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, NT, ACT) plus all major regions of New Zealand. The platform combines eight government-mandated fuel price APIs with community-verified data to deliver the most comprehensive coverage of any fuel comparison service in Australasia.

### Unique datasets we publish

- **NT 24-hour price-lock data**: Petrolmate is the only public source that publishes the Northern Territory regulator's next-window locked retail prices. The NT pricing window changes at 14:30 ACST each day; our `/api/recommendation/{station}` endpoint returns the next-window locked price alongside our ML forecast.
- **New Zealand coverage at scale**: Petrolmate tracks 1,534 NZ stations across 16 regions (Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, Waikato, Otago, Bay of Plenty, Manawatu, Nelson, Taranaki, Northland, Hawke's Bay, Southland, Queenstown-Lakes, West Coast, Gisborne, Marlborough), approximately 6× the coverage of any other public fuel comparison service operating in NZ. Sourced from community-verified data feeds.
- **Two-sync-per-day government data**: We sync NSW FuelCheck, QLD Fuel API, SA Informed Sources, VIC Fair Fuel, WA FuelWatch, NT MyFuel, and TAS FuelCheck twice daily (6am and 12pm AEST), with VIC and NSW boost-window syncs every 30 minutes between 06:00 and 10:00 AEDT during the morning price-flip window.
- **ML price cycle detection**: A 4-signal recommendation engine combining FFT-based cycle detection (35-day window), a price-percentile signal, a forecast-direction signal, and a confidence-weighted recommendation tier. Calibrated against rolling 14-day accuracy.

- **QLD Fuel API** — Queensland Fair Trading 24-hour price reporting
- **SA Informed Sources** — South Australian regulator-provided live data
- **VIC Fair Fuel** — real-time `/public/v1/` endpoint (not the 24-hour-delayed open-data feed)
- **WA FuelWatch** — Western Australian regulator
- **NT MyFuel** — Northern Territory regulator (24-hour locked price model)
- **TAS FuelCheck** — Tasmania regulator
- **Community-verified sources** for ACT and NZ (where regulators do not publish open data)

## What we do not publish

- We do not publish wholesale terminal-gate prices (those are the ACCC's remit at accc.gov.au/petrol-prices).
- We do not publish individual loyalty-discount transaction histories — only the headline pump price visible to all customers.
- We do not publish forecasts for stations with fewer than 14 days of price history; ML cycle detection requires sufficient signal density.
